Dislocation is a work in progress which began in 2003 and tries to explore, using digital and photographic print, sculpture and video, the aestheticization of destruction by the mass media. In Dislocation II (2006), what the artist is doing is working out, using a 3D software, what a piece of furniture would be, during and after a process of destruction. Each object (a computer keyboard, a chair, and an office chair) is presented in three different states: a digital print snapshot of its explosion, a stereolithographic reconstruction broken into parts, and a video showing the explosion process of the 3D model.

Chatonsky’s works have been acquired by public collectors such as the Maison Europeenne de la Photographie, and have been exhibited internationally, in such venues as the Museum of Contemporary Art, New York, Palais de Tokyo, Paris, Villette Numérique, Paris.
