“My Temporary Visiting Position From The Sunset Terrace Bar” ~ 2007

In 2006, Zanni created The Possible Ties Between Illness and Success,his first piece of “data cinema”. This was a “classic” film-style narrative generated in real time thanks to the active, but unwitting, participation of the user (in this case, the “success” of the film, calculated by Google Analytics, became the disease that marked the face of the lead character) or the overlap of various flows of information. This is what happens in My Temporary…, where a fixed urban landscape (shot in Ahlen, Germany) overlays the sunset filmed daily by a webcam positioned on a balcony in Naples.

His work has been shown worldwide in galleries and museums including: MAXXI Museum, Rome (2007, 2006); New Museum, New York (2005); P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, New York (2001). He held his first retrospective in October 2005 at the ICA in London.
