As part of the digital art component of the EXTRA residencies, iMAL is happy to welcome Elisa Sanchez and Zeste Le Reste in a cross-residency with Antre Peaux (Bourges, France)

Together they will work on their project "⚘Une balade à travers marges" during one month at iMAL. Then, Elisa and Zeste will join our friends at Antre Peaux for another month for the second part of the residency.

In French, “adventice” means something that comes from the outside, subtly altering a preexisting space. They are weeds and flowers growing in the cracks of the cities, the words scribbled in the margins and on dog-eared pages of a book…

“⚘Une balade à travers marges” is a project that chooses to explore paths on the margins, winding, discreet, and improvised… We would like to co-create a space shaped by our practices, in which wandering would be a way to forge connections. By experimenting collectively with different forms of wandering through physical and digital spaces, we will seek out the weeds that grow between our practices within these spaces and our uses of technical devices. The cross-residency would allow us to situate these spatial explorations in both residency locations and to connect these wanderings by collectively considering modes of sharing: what is written, described, or shown as is? What is revealed within the space of a room or of a page? What remains hidden? What remains unspoken? What is transformed?

Elisa Sanchez is an artist-astronaut who lives and works in Strasbourg. She graduated from the Haute Ecole des Arts du Rhin in Strasbourg in 2021 and participated in the “Creation and Globalization” research program in Shanghai in 2019. Her work has been exhibited in France and abroad at institutions such as La Villette in Paris; Chantier Public in Poitiers; the HEK in Basel; the CRAC Alsace in Altkirch; Le 19 in Montbéliard; the Civil Defense Works Basement in Shanghai; the Casino Luxembourg in Luxembourg; the Syndicat Potentiel in Strasbourg; the Centre Pompidou, Paris. She is a recipient of the 2023 Talents Sati award. She has been in residence at Maison Garenne in Auvergne, at Horizome in Strasbourg, and at Bletterans in the Jura. She has published with éditions hyphe, and her writings appear in the journal Immersion and the Woman Journal, as well as in various feminist fanzines. In 2025, she was awarded the City of Strasbourg’s Grant for Research and Literary Creation. A member of the SNAP CGT union for two years, she is active in several feminist and anti-fascist organizations.

o zeste le reste is an artist and graphic designer living in Brussels. His practice is rooted in the ordinary spaces of everyday life, maintaining a critical reflection on their technical infrastructures.
He draws, writes, installs forms and images, and makes books and websites using free software and tinkered tools. His weboon, “the adventures of mr mister in the land of lines” was published in “the html review 05”.
He works on vernacular uses of the Web, amateur graphic and textual practices, and their modes of dissemination. He wrote the article “Détours et pages perso. Une poétique du HTML” for “curseurs n°6 : À quoi rêve le numérique ?”.
With Aleaume Néron, he co-created the project “cuisiner (…)”, discussions mediated by the preparation of a dish, linking the concerns of each participant within a group. It is a space to think with our senses and to experience what affects us. During their research residency at ISELP, they conducted the project “cuisiner nos monstres” with the children of the Bazar homework school.
