Vernissage: La Société Automatique

18:00

iMAL – co-producer alongside LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial, EUROPALIA ESPAÑA and Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles – is pleased to invite you to the exhibition La Société Automatique, which will open on Thursday 6 November at 18:00 at iMAL.

Following Chapter I (2009), Nihil Ex Nihilo (2010) and Memory Lane (2016), Félix Luque Sánchez returns to iMAL with a new solo exhibition. Eight new creations –made with his regular collaborators Vincent Evrard, Damien Gernay and Íñigo Bilbao Lopategui – present a vision of our present-future where automation infiltrates every aspect of life, as robots, AI, and machine-controlled environments gradually displace human agency.

The exhibition takes its name from a 2012 lecture of philosopher Bernard Stiegler where he elaborates on the era of the "automatic society". As Stiegler in his conference, La Société Automatique explores how automation is revolutionising the way we live, socialise and work, while provoking profound questions about the future of humanity.

Organised in the framework of EUROPALIA ESPAÑA, the exhibition will travel to LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial in April 2026.

Choreography and performance: Mercedes Dassy ▪ Music: Le Motel & Ben Bertrand.
