iMAL is open to welcoming projects by artists that are not necessarily related to its program of activities, making its spaces and resources available whenever possible. In this framework, we are pleased to support Marc Iglesias’s work through this spontaneous residency, which we hope will be very helpful to him in his research.

Marc Iglesias is a dancer/performer born in Salt, Girona. He began his dance training at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona before moving to Salzburg, and later to Vienna and New York, where he worked with Milli Bitterli, Ori Flomin, Donna Uchizono, and Keila Cordova, among others.

Since 2006, he lives in Brussels, where he has worked and collaborated with various artists such as ATDC/Kris Verdonck, Meg Stuart, Andros Zins-Browne, Ugo Dehaes, RUDA/Ayelen Parolin, Miet Warlop, Davis Freeman, Begum Ecyas and Transquinquennal a.o. He has also developed his own creations, including Keeping Things Whole, Untitled to Her Ladyship, and Not Tomorrow Alt. Take #1.

Since 2022, he has regularly collaborated with Natacha Nicora on the creation and presentation of performances. He has also taught in Rotterdam (Netherlands), at the St. Lucas School of Arts in Ghent (Belgium), the University of Antwerp (Belgium), and in the Master’s program for Dance and Choreography in Charleroi Danse in Brussels.

As part of his research on the relations between movement, polyphonic structure, and rhythmic accumulation, Marc Iglesias will focus his residence in IMAL on dynamic shifting space settings, with a strong focus on narrative strategies, exploring unstable truth and fragmentation of perspective as tools for scenic construction.
