EMAP artists selection 2026
EMAP is a European residency network supporting emerging artists working at the intersection of media art, technology, and interdisciplinary practice. Out of 643 submissions from across Europe, the participating member institutions jointly selected the 2026 artists during the jury conference hosted at the MEET Digital Culture Center in Milano.
The selected artist for iMAL is Éva Csonka with her project The Most Dangerous Games We (Might) Play.
The Most Dangerous Games We (Might) Play seeks to create an orchestra composed of interactive robotic instruments that explore a shared soundscape. The project has a deeply poetic component and aligns perfectly with iMAL’s vision, prioritising the use of low-tech and recycled materials in the form of DIY robotics. The project shares our philosophy of degrowth and perfectly embodies a critical approach and resistance against the techno-liberal monoculture that increasingly seeks to scale at the expense of planetary boundaries and dominate our cultural and political imagination. This installation/performance will allow us to delve deeper into the debate on the need for a more sustainable digital creation that embraces limits as an opportunity to reclaim creativity.
Congrats! We are looking forward to welcome you!
