Poly Chain & Sophia Bulgakova

—

iMAL is pleased to welcome Poly Chain & Sophia Bulgakova for one of the three residencies taking place at iMAL in the framework of 25AV - a pan-European platform for audiovisual and performing arts, initiated by five community web radios: Kiosk Radio (Brussels), Radio Raheem (Milan), Radio 80000 (Munich), Stegi Radio (Athens), and Infame Radio (Brno).

During the residency, the artists will develop their project "Nemesis AV", a live audiovisual performance that will be presented along the two others in the 25AV night on October 3rd for the special event that will conclude the residencies.

Nemesis AV is a collaborative performance by Poly Chain (Sasha Zakrevska) and Sophia Bulgakova. The piece evolves from Poly Chain’s 2024 album “Nemesis” into a multidimensional audiovisual experience. More than an adaptation, it is conceived as a reconstructed diary: fragments of music, image, and text spanning the last decade are reimagined into a ritual of memory, grief, resilience, and transformation. At its core, Nemesis AV aims to encompass both personal and collective histories within a single, evolving space.

The artists

Sasha Zakrevska, aka Poly Chain, is a Ukrainian multidisciplinary artist, former member of the research collective Center for Spatial Technologies, and a SHAPE platform 2020 participant. Her debut album, Music for Candy Shops (2017), showcased a blend of ambient and harsh electronic sounds. Her work is influenced by her experiences in both the Polish and Ukrainian electronic music scenes, where she has participated in numerous local events and festivals, including Kraków’s Unsound Festival and Kyiv’s CXEMA, as well as composing music for museum performances, choreographic works, and independent movies. Poly Chain’s discography includes releases on labels such as Die Orakel, Into The Light Records (with Bartosz Kruczyński), Mondoj, Mystictrax, Standard Deviation, and her own imprint, Lightonics Records, among others. Now based in Copenhagen, she continues to merge her visual arts background with her passion for sound creation.
