"For official tournaments, the FIDE (World Chess Federation) recommends a rigid chessboard with 5-square-centimeter checks. The squares called "dark" must be walnut, those called "light" maple and the framing, that presents a tilt at the end of its four sides merbau". Based on this official definitions, and respecting each criterion, I started to rethink the object and its use. Absurd, useless, unusual, but always faithful to their original grid function, these chessboards fulfil all the required conditions to be certified by the FIDE.
