Juan Cortés (Colombia, 1989) is an artist, engineer, musician and scientist working on multiple forms such as installation works, recordings, and concert pieces. He earned a Master of Arts with special emphasis in audio-visual media from the Universidad de los Andes, 2012. Cortés is interested in sound and natural forces, as well as investigative and interdisciplinary processes and the connections between art and science. By gathering different types of data from nature he designs powerful visual and acoustic works. He also developed an Arduino interface, which helps to give obsolete electronic devices a new purpose and function. He was the co-founder and curator of the VideoArte Festival, radar 2015 and the Sonorous Art Festival, satelite, 2014 (Colombia).

He has performed and exhibited his work at the Museum of Modern Art of New York (MoMA); CMA Municipal Arts Centre, Madrid, Spain; Bilbao Exhibition Center, Bilbao, Spain; Fridman Gallery NYC; and Hyphenhub salons of art and technology (Red Door and la MaMa). He lives and works in Bogotá, Colombia.
