In this workshop Wojciech Rusin and Eliot Duran will show basic 3D modelling techniques, discuss the context of DIY instrument making, combining old techniques with new modelling and 3D printing technologies.
In a 3D-modeling software, participants will be able to model and decorate a whistle which will be 3D-printed.
On the second day, participants will be split between Wojciech and Eliot. The first group will be encouraged to bring instruments for experimenting with animated graphic notation but also playing with 3D printed and drawn symbols for graphic scoring. A composition will be drawn on paper to be performed on day three.
Using free software such as Sculptris and Blender, the second group will learn how to sculpt organic shapes that can be adapted to a more technical context, such as the whistle of the workshop.

Wojciech Rusin is a Polish-born audio visual artist based in London. He draws inspiration from alchemical and gnostic texts, early renaissance choral music and Eastern European mythologies. He released Syphon LP on AD93 in 2022 and The Funnel LP on Akashic Records in April 2019. He designs and makes 3D-printed reed instruments, reworking ancient designs with contemporary 3D modelling technologies.
Eliot Duran studied illustration, and later discovered 3D software. Since then, he has dedicated himself to digital sculpture.
His work combines Western representations of early modernity with new technologies.
He is also an art historian.
